THE BEGINNING

The Robert F Halbert family first purchased land and began ranching cattle and sheep in Sutton County in 1900.  In 1936 the "East Ranch" was purchased and Robert A Halbert began to gather up land and develop a successful ranching operation comprised of finewool sheep and polled hereford cattle.  At one time the Halbert Hereford bloodlines were known worldwide and considered some of the best bloodlines in the breed.  The ranch continued to pass from one generation to the next with each taking great pride in producing the highest quality of finewool sheep and cattle as well as maintaining a great respect for the land which allowed the livestock to thrive.

FAST FORWARD

In 2010, David and Stacy Fisher would begin their journey as 5th generation Texas ranchers at the "East Ranch".  From the beginning they took great pride in the family legacy, their responsibiliy to the environment, and their ability to play a part in helping feed a growing population.  Initially they would operate the ranch as a parttime business while maintaining other enterprises.

In 2018 their passion for raising livestock and maintaining the land, led them to move full time into the ranching business.  What began as a 5000 acre 'part time' operation in 2010 has now grown to a 25,000 acre full time operation on family and leased land.  What hasn't changed, is their strong desire to maintain the family legacy while working hard to respect the environment and the beautiful land that they have the privilege to care for.  David and Stacy are always looking to improve their business whether it be improving the habitat for wildlife and livestock, utilizing technology with the livestock, or simply improving the quality of what they produce.  Their main goal, aside from being a vital part of the food chain while maintaining the integrity of the environment, is to pass the opportunity on to their 2 children, Madalyn and Weston.  They hope they will have the same opportunity on the beautiful Texas land that the previous 5 generations have had.
